BASSWAVCookies and storage
We ask before anything that needs your consent. Nothing from Google loads until you click Accept. If you reject, we still count visits in a privacy-friendly way: no cookies, no stored IP address, no id that lasts longer than your open tab, and nothing shared with anyone. We do not use advertising pixels.
Opens the consent choice again. Rejecting after an earlier Accept stops Google Analytics and deletes its cookies from this site.
Strictly necessary
Needed to remember your choices. No consent required.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept | By |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bw_consent_choice | Cookie | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics. | 12 months | BASSWAV |
| Presave / popup dismissed | Local storage | Remembers that you closed a pop-up, so it does not come back. | Until you clear it | BASSWAV |
| bw_probe | Session storage | Marks our own test visits so they are left out of the statistics. Set only by a ?bw_probe=1 link. | This tab only | BASSWAV |
Cookie-free statistics (everyone)
Aggregate statistics about which pages and tracks work, stored in our own database for 13 months. Our server replaces your IP address with a code that changes every day and never stores the IP itself. This falls under the analytics exemption of Art. 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet. You can object at any time by writing to contact@basswav.com; see the privacy notice.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept | By |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bw_sid | Session storage | A random session id so page views in one visit can be counted together. Never a cookie; gone when you close the tab. | This tab only | BASSWAV |
| bw_attribution | Session storage | Remembers which site or campaign link brought you in during this visit. Ad click ids (such as gclid) are left out unless you accept. | This tab only | BASSWAV |
| bw_exp_assignment::* | Session storage | Keeps the same version of a page you saw in a test while this tab is open. | This tab only | BASSWAV |
| bw_exp_exposed::* | Session storage | Makes sure a test counts you once in this visit. | This tab only | BASSWAV |
| Vercel Web Analytics / Speed Insights | No cookie | Counts page views and measures page speed, through our own domain. | None on your device | Vercel |
Only after you click Accept
Google Analytics, with Google signals and ad personalisation switched off, a persistent first-party visitor id, and ad click ids. Rejecting later deletes all of these from this site. Google processes this data in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept | By |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_<id> | Cookie | Google Analytics: tells visits apart to measure how the site is used. | 13 months | Google (USA) |
| bw_vid | Cookie + local storage | A random visitor id so our own statistics can recognise a returning browser. | 13 months | BASSWAV |
| bw_sid | Cookie | The session id above, also as a cookie so our server can read it. | 1 hour | BASSWAV |
| bw_exp_assignment::* | Local storage | Keeps the same version of a page you saw in a test, across visits. | Until you clear it or reject | BASSWAV |
| bw_exp_exposed::* | Local storage | Makes sure a test counts your browser once, across visits. | Until you clear it or reject | BASSWAV |
| Ad click id | Session storage | The click id an ad link carries (gclid, fbclid and similar), kept with your visit and any form you send so we can tell which ad worked. | This tab only | BASSWAV |
Embedded players
Spotify players load only when you press play. From then on Spotify may set its own cookies under its own policy.
